Our Impact
Over the years, Sparsh Kenya has made a meaningful impact on participants and the community alike. Every success story, big or small, is a testament to the power of inclusion. Here are some highlights of what we’ve achieved together:

Empowered Individuals
Since 2013, we have worked with dozens of adults with disabilities, each with their own dreams and challenges. Many participants have achieved milestones that once seemed out of reach – from learning workplace habits like punctuality and teamwork, to mastering craft techniques and vocational skills that showcase their talents and independence. At Sparsh, each product is a story of ability, dignity, and joy.

Handmade Products & Economic Inclusion
Through our crafts and enterprise initiatives, our participants are not just learning skills – they are also contributing economically. The handmade goods produced in our workshop (bags, crafts, baked goods, etc.) have found appreciative customers. Local businesses have even partnered with us to showcase these products – for instance, a Nairobi gift shop sells Sparsh gift bags made by our artisans, with proceeds supporting our cause. Each purchase not only raises funds but also spreads awareness, as customers learn about the creators behind the products. This model of linking handmade products and disability programmes in Kenya is creating a ripple effect of empowerment.

Inclusive Events and
Advocacy
Sparsh Kenya takes pride in organizing inclusive events that highlight the abilities of our members. We’ve held art exhibitions featuring paintings and crafts by adults with Down Syndrome and autism. Our dance and music groups have performed at local community centers and fairs, proving that talent knows no boundaries. Every March 21st (World Down Syndrome Day) and December 3rd (International Day of Persons with Disabilities), we run campaigns or join forces with other organizations to advocate for inclusion. These activities have drawn media attention and increased dialogue in Nairobi about the importance of supporting adults with disabilities. By stepping into the public eye, our participants become advocates for change, showing society what inclusion looks like.

Growth and
Sustainability
From a modest start, Sparsh has steadily grown – moving into a larger facility at Smara 64, St. Michael’s Road to accommodate more participants and activities. Our impact can also be measured by the expanding network of supporters rallying around us. Volunteers from universities, professionals offering pro-bono services, corporate sponsors, and partner NGOs have all become part of the Sparsh family. This growing support base is enabling us to plan for the future – from possibly serving more areas in Kenya, to introducing new programmes (like technology training for persons with disabilities). Ultimately, our greatest impact is the smiles and achievements of those we serve, and the breaking of barriers in the community. Every person we empower creates a ripple that moves Kenya one step closer to true inclusion.
