Vocational & Life Skills Training

At Sparsh, learning happens through doing. Participants gain hands-on experience by making paper, bead, wax, and food products such as gift bags, candles, chocolates, and jams. Alongside these skills, they develop workplace habits like punctuality, teamwork, and responsibility, while also practicing money management through pricing, sales, and transactions at product showcases. Every activity nurtures independence and purpose, preparing participants for meaningful engagement in the wider community.

Wellness & Creative Activities

We believe in nurturing both body and mind alongside vocational skills. Participants take part in yoga sessions that encourage relaxation, focus, and well-being, as well as occasional creative outlets like art, music, and movement. These activities bring joy, improve coordination, and encourage self-expression, creating moments of happiness that strengthen community bonds.

Handicrafts Workshop (Skills Training through Crafts)

Our crafts programme allows participants to develop artisan skills while creating handmade products such as gift bags, greeting cards, candles, jewelry, and baked goods. With guidance, they practice techniques like paper folding, beadwork, painting, and baking; building practical vocational skills in a workplace-style environment. Sales of these items also generate income, reinforcing the value of their work and connecting Sparsh with the wider community through unique, handcrafted products.

Community Engagement & Social Skills

Learning also extends beyond Sparsh. We organize outings that help participants practice real-world confidence and social interaction from shopping at local markets to fun days at the museum, bowling, or Giraffe Park, as well as workplace visits for career exposure. We also mark important awareness days such as World Down Syndrome Day and Autism Awareness Month with public events, and regularly participate in festive fairs and community celebrations. These experiences encourage advocacy and inclusion, while allowing the wider community to appreciate the talents and contributions of our participants.

Through all these programmes, Sparsh Kenya offers adults with disabilities the opportunity to keep growing while finding purpose and pride in their work. Each activity is guided by patient instructors and volunteers who adapt to individual strengths. Beyond building abilities, Sparsh fosters friendships, self-esteem, and a true sense of belonging — all within a safe and supportive environment. Families are also part of this journey, with guidance to help carry the learning and confidence from Sparsh into daily life at home.
